But I believe good things happen everyday. I believe good things happen even when bad things happen. And I believe on a happy day like today, we can still feel a little sad. And that’s life, isn’t it?

No one has the right to dictate their own timeline onto you. Live your life the way you should. Your own happiness should be your priority. Forget everyone else. Be happy in your own way. Live life in your own time. At the end of the day, only your happiness matters.

A strong woman understands that the gifts such as logic, decisiveness, and strength are just as feminine as intuition and emotional connection. She values and uses all of her gifts.

There is more powerful or radical or stunningly beautiful than a woman who chooses to rebuild her life day after day, after day. No matter how many pieces there are to pick up, or how many mistakes she must spin into gold.

WHEN YOU SUFFER

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, but rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ.”
1 Peter 4:12, 13

On a warm summer day, July 19, A.D. 64, a fire broke out in the poor quarters of Rome near the coliseum. The Temple of Luna was razed along with the Shrine of Vesta, hundreds, then thousands of people were homeless. When people tried to extinguish the blaze, they were forcibly restrained by the imperial soldiers, leading them to believe that Nero was responsible for the fire.

Rome was ablaze for three days. In the evening as the sky glowed with the burning inferno, Nero played his fiddle with glee on the evening as the sky glowed with the burning inferno. A public outcry arose and Nero needed a scapegoat. The Christians of Rome offered the perfect solution. First, the growing Christian population wasn’t like. Furthermore, dislike for Christians was fueled by rumors that they were cannibals who ate flesh and drank blood in their religious rites.

The madness of prejudice quickly turned into the fire of persecution. People who had lived relatively peaceful lives suddenly were victims of malicious cruelty.

Within months the Apostle Peter, who had known persecution himself, picked up his pen and wrote to help these who suddenly were confronted with pain and suffering.

What believers were going through then is still being repeated today. Why would you be the brunt of unkind words or prejudice because of what you believe in? there are times when your basic goodness pricks the conscience of an unbeliever? Jesus said, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first” (John 15:18). Rejoice, says Peter, no matter how strange the logic, for you share in the suffering of Christ.

WHAT GOD LOOKS LIKE

“God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ.”
-2 Corinthians 5:19

You never know what to expect when a child opens his mouth. On one occasion, a minister visited a Sunday School Class where the four-year olds were drawing pictures about people in the Bible. “What are you drawing?” the minister asked a very pretty, prim young miss. “Oh, I’m drawing a picture of God,” she replied confidently. “Well, that’s a nice idea, “he answered kindly, “but no one knows for sure what God looks like.” “Oh, they will when I get this drawing done,” she smiled enthusiastically.

An overstatement? Yes, for a four-year-old. But not for Jesus Christ. By His birth, life on earth, death on the Cross, and resurrection from the grave, He showed mankind what God was like. He was the God-Man.

One of the names given the son of God is “Emmanuel” which means “God with us.” When Jesus was on earth, God was on earth. When Jesus healed men, God healed. When Jesus forgave sinners, God forgave sinners. In the Old Testament days, the revelation of God was never complete. When Moses asked God for credentials as to his divine mission of leading the children of Israel out of Egypt, God answered, “Tell me that I Am has sent you” –Exodus 3:14.

Now any grade-school student knows that I Am is an incomplete sentence. There is a subject, a verb, but no object.

Here is good news: when Jesus came to earth nearly 2,000 years ago, He did finish the sentence of truth so that man would understand God clearly. He did not just say, “I Am.” He said, “I Am the Door, I Am the Bread of Life.” By such figures of speech, He revealed God simply yet beautifully so that all men might understand the heart of God.

THE ABSENT ONE AMONG US

“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor.”
-Ephesians 4:25

The late Amy Carmichael, missionary leader in India, said that her mission – the Dohnavur Fellowship – had a rule for conversation: “The absent one must be safe among us.” That was her way of reminding people that to talk about another person in a derogatory or degrading way in their absence, when we would never say the same thing in their presence, takes unfair advantage of a person.

Amy Carmichael was not the first to observe such a principle. Some fifteen centuries before,  St.Augustine had a motto over his table which read, “He that speaks an idle word against an absent man or woman is not welcome at this table.” Augustine had remembered the words of Jesus who said, “I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36).

According to one statistician, the average person spends 13 years of his life talking. In a day, the average person speaks 18,000 words – enough to fill a book of 54 pages. In a year, his words put in print would fill 66 books of 300 pages each. A great many of those words concern other people, and often would be better unsaid. If we could only see ourselves as others see us, or hear ourselves as others hear us, we would learn to check our comments involving other people.

Should you be tempted to pass on a savory bit of news, remember Amy Carmichael’s motto: “Wherefore,” wrote the Apostle Paul, “Putting away lying; speak every man truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.” (Ephesians 4;25)

SUFFERING AND THE PROMISES OF GOD

“To suffer… all kinds of trials… have come so that your faith… may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
1 Peter 1:6-7

There is a common perception today that faith in Jesus Christ will exempt us from the trials and hardships of life, especially those with regard to health, happiness and prosperity. Then when people but this idea, and discover later that their prayers will not always turn back the hostility of a world, they are disappointed and disillusioned.

Peter addressed this issue in the first letter which bears his name. He says the believer’s response is not fighting fire with fire but rather to rejoice because the Spirit of glory and of Christ rests in him. Jesus said we are to rejoice when people persecute us and say all manner of evil against us because they persecuted the prophets before as well.

When times of difficulty come for you, there are promises which accompany them, which we seldom remember.

First, times of difficulty are accompanied by the promise of His presence. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33). He also promised, “I will be with you always” (Matthew 28:20).

Second, the trials which come to us also come with the promise of His protection. Peter again wrote that we are “shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials” (1 Peter 1:6-7).

Third, there is also the promise of His purging or cleansing. Although we would rather avoid difficult times, good always comes out of them. Peter talked about our faith as just like gold which is put into the furnace to be refined.

PERSECUTION

“All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field... but the Word of the Lord stands forever.”
1 Peter 1:24, 25

There is a new job opening in our company, and you have both experience and education. But another person gets the job. It was a management decision, you are told, but a friend says your colleagues resent that you don’t drink with the guys. You are a doctor and because of your Christian convictions, you refuse to participate in certain billing practices that you view as dishonest. Your colleagues shun and make comments behind your back.

It’s the real world but it is also a form of hostility which believers have endured for a long time. As early as A.D. 65, Peter addressed this issue. What had Christians done to pagans of Rome? There were some reasons, shallow as they may be.

1.The innate goodness of the believers annoyed individuals whose conscience were pricked by the Christian beliefs.

2.Roman disliked Christianity’s primary appeal to the working class.

3.The dogmatism of Christianity also rankled the sweeping pantheistic climate of Rome which held to hundred of deities, all of whom were idols of myths. Christians were monotheistic and worshipped one God.

4.Rome resented the Christians who were militantly evangelistic and took advantage of opportunities to proselytize people from all faiths.

5.Christians hold dogmatically to a belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who spoke of a final judgment when all men would give account for their sins.

Take these five together and you’ve woven a fabric of hostility which still surrounds believers today who are in the world but are not of the world.

LISTENING TO EACH OTHER

“He who answers before listening – that is his folly and his name”
-Proverbs 18:13

How far will an individual go just to get someone to listen? Take Mary Jo Jansen, who complained that nobody listened to her. Not her doctors. Not her attorney. Not even her family. No one. So, according to a close friend, she decided to capture everyone’s attention in what he called, “one of the most notorious ways possible: “She walked into an elementary school near her home, barged into a classroom which she chose at random, and held the teacher and the pupils as hostages before she finally put a gun to her temple and pulled the trigger, taking her own life.

“That’s sick!” you immediately respond, and I think most folks will agree. No sane person could subject innocent children to such a statement of anger and defiance. But the fact remains that people who feel lonely and unheard are willing to do almost anything to make a statement.

Every one of us has three basic needs: (1) love (2) fulfillment (3) security. Fulfillment, the second need means feeling worthwile to yourself and to other people. Having someone listen to you validates your sense of self-esteem and makes you feel that you are a person of value and worth.

What’s the bottom line here? Twofold: first, you can’t meet the needs of your husband or wife or your children without learning to listen; it’s all part of communication. Second, part of prayer is listening and hearing God’s voice. He always responds to our heart-cries. A young woman complained, “For four hours I prayed saying, ‘God say something and He was silent.” “No, I replied, “God was speaking loudly saying, “Trust me, take it by faith!” Listening is tremendously important!

DO YOU READ YOUR BIBLE

“I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.”
-Psalm 119:11

I was standing inside an ancient Chinese temple in Canton, China when a young university student approached a member of our group to try out his English. He spoke pleasantly for a few minutes in broad generalities, and then asked, “Do you have a Bible?”

Caught off guard the tourist replied, “Not with me, but I have one at home.” “Do you read it?” asked the young man. Candidly, the tourist said, “No, not much, but it’s there.” Puzzled the Chinese young man queried, “If you have a Bible, why do you not read it?”

This was no set-up political interrogation, but the searching of a young man who had been denied religious freedom all his life, he could not understand how someone could possess something so rare as a Bible and not read it, let alone study or memorize it.

The Bible is not a religious book which brings luck to the owner like an amulet or charm. Rather, it is a textbook on living, a road map that will take you by the foot of the Cross to heaven’s shore.

The Bible tells us that just as there are physical laws that govern the universe, there are spiritual laws that govern our relationship with God. It tells us how to become a Christian, how to pray so that our prayers are answered, how to live a life that is above the carnal tug of sensual lust, how to find peace of mind and the assurance that our sins are forgiven.

The tourist who was asked by the Chinese youth has a Bible, all right. But the Bible and the leading Character of the biblical drama had never possessed him. That is the difference. Do not just possess a Bible, let it possess you.

A TIME TO REMAIN SILENT

“For by your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned.”
-Matthew 12:37

The air was hot and heavy as the temperature soared. The small building was jammed by folks who had come to hear their local politicians. Finally, the last speaker made his way to the rostrum, cleared his voice, and started speaking. Thinking that he would be brief, the people patiently waited and waited. He droned on and on, wiping beads of perspiration from his forehead as he jabbed the air with his handkerchief to accent his point. Finally, he raised his voice a high pitch and said, “I speak not for his generation but for generations to come.” Taking it no longer, an expectant mother jumped to her feet and headed for the door saying, “Yes, and if you do not finish your speech real soon, the next generation will be here before you’re done!”

There is something to be said for brevity. In 136 Hebrew Words, God gave the 10 commandments. In fewer than 1,000 words you can have the Lord’s Prayer, the 23rd Psalm, the Hippocratic oath, a sonnet by Shakespeare, the Preamble to the Constitution, the Boy Scout Oath, and Lincoln’s Gettysburg address. Quite a contrast to the fact that the average person lets more than 18,000 words fall from his lips every day.

“There is, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,” wrote the author of Ecclesiastes. And knowing the difference distinguishes one who has real wisdom from one who does not. Knowing when to offer advice and counsel, and when to keep your mouth shut is a talent that could well be sought after by more people. God gives us the gift of listening as well as the gift of speaking. There is a time to speak and a time to remain silent.

CHOOSE WHAT YOU FIGHT

I once asked a very successful woman to share her secret with me. She smiled and said to me..

“I started succeeding when I started leaving small fights for small fighters.”
“I stopped fighting those who gossiped about me.”
“I stopped fighting with my in laws.”
“I stopped fighting for attention.”
“I stopped fighting to meet people’s expectation of me.”
“I stopped fighting for my rights with inconsiderate people.”
“I stopped fighting to please everyone.”
“I stopped fighting to prove they were wrong about me.”
“I left such fights for those who have nothing else to fight.”

And I started fighting for..
“My vision.”
“My dreams.”
“My ideas.”
“My destiny.”

The day I gave up on small fights is the day I started becoming successful and so much more content.”

Some fights are not worth your time. Choose what you fight for wisely.

FACTS ABOUT CALL CENTER AGENTS

Call Center Agents? Magaling mag-english pero no-brainer naman ang work..

If you think that working in a Call Center is no-brainer job, read this..

1.Call Center Agents don’t talk to robots. They talk to humans. Humans who were overcharged, whose orders were late, whose refund they didn’t receive, whose internet aren’t working, whose bank accounts they can’t access, etc..

The goal? Make sure that each customer hangs up the phone happy.

Repeat that 50-60 times (the average number of calls per agent per day) and kindly estimate how much neurons it would take to accomplish that.

2.Call Center Agents deal with negative emotions. Lots of them. And if you think that irate customers are their only nightmare, then you think wrong.

When a customer sounds happy, an agent needs to pretend she’s happy, even if she’s not.

Forget that the previous customer accused her of stealing their country’s jobs and calling her a mail-order bribe. The show must go on!

3.Every now and then, a well-intentioned customer cracks a joke. The real joke though, is, the joke isn’t funny at all.

To avoid embarrassing the customer, every agent has their own signature laugh mastered to perfection reserved for customers with lame jokes.

Guys, to say it’s a demanding job is an understatement!

4.Call Center Agents play detective/actor. They listen not only to what the customer is saying, but also to what the customer is not saying.

As a worker of this no-brainer job, they pay very close attention to each customer’s pace, tone of voice, words they use, and manners of how each they talk.

Then, from these observations, they carve out a whole new personality from themselves that would cater best to each customer’s personality.

Tough? Try this for a week and you’ll understand what tough means.

5.In this no-brainer job, agents need to play psychologist and understand human nature.
-how to defuse angry customers
-which compliments make them tick
-how to make them feel important

6.Positive Scripting is a skill every call center agent is a master of. It involves delivering a very bad news and making it sound like it’s the best news ever.

Wanna try? Goodluck with that.

I can go on forever and you still probably won’t get it unless you try it yourself.

Tell you what, why don’t you try working for a day and we’ll see how it goes. That’s if you can pass the initial interview.

So if you feel like it’s unfair that call center agents who only finished high school or dropped out from college are receiving better salary and benefits than you, don’t.

YIN AND YANG

What is good? What is bad? What is normative? What is not? How am I supposed to act? What should I deprive of doing? Thoughts are running out, questions are still approaching.

What is good? And what is bad? Like seeking truth on politicians rant. Ask that question in two separate occasions. Morality will be tested, exposing the real equations.

Indulge me,

Vices are good, sometimes it is bad. Underestimate never, the sensation I had. Summons the third eye to seal the door of realization, spin the doorknob once to avoid fixation.

Lying is good, sometimes it is bad. What if you are caught with a crimson hand? Reason further and recall the lessons, proceed the murder, release the jargons!

Your other half is good, somehow, she is bad. Accurate proof that a man should be on land. Whenever Eve overpower wholeness, Adam will grieve, cursing her existence.

Friends are good, sometimes a little bad. Conveys influence, that’s why they’re banned. Sharing euphoria, fabricating bloodline. Enjoy sinful stuffs, I guarantee you cloud nine.

Heartaches are good, not necessarily bad. It helps you distinguish what is fake from what is fond. Improve yourself and please no one. Overcome the pain dear, you’re only a human.

Your lifestyle is half good and it should be half bad. Pleasure is priority making the world mad. Your time grows short what would you do? Did I provoke something? The answer is on you.

Sometimes you are good, sometimes you are bad. It depends on a moment you validate your brand. Don’t adhere to black and white, put some other hue. It is crucial because sometimes the problem is on you.

Do not worry. That is life.

Life is good and life is bad.
