Your children will respond with love through your worst.
In the morning, when your breath smells really bad…they’ll still kiss you.
When you yell at them for standing there with the toothbrush hanging out of their mouth instead of brushing when you’re running late for school…they still hug you goodbye.
When you’re crying with frustration at how bad your day is going…they’ll lace their arms around your neck into a hug and offer you a tissue.
When you’re having a case of the blahs and aren’t in the mood for horse rides or playing Barbies…they’ll still want you to lay with them till they fall asleep.
When your hair is in a messy bun, and you’re cranky, running on three hours of sleep…they’ll still look at you filled with nothing but love.
Because to them,
you’re the best no matter what you look like,
smell like,
and how you act.
And they always manage to lift you
with those kisses,
hugs,
and gazes.
So next time your children have a tantrum,
case of the blahs,
or are exhausted and cranky—
let’s remember to lead with love
just like our children.
