I DON’T TEXT YOU ANYMORE BECAUSE I’M TRIED OF TRYING

I stopped trying to get your attention – but not as some form of revenge. I’m not trying to make you mad. I’m not trying to make you miss me. I’m simply done trying. I don’t talk to you anymore because you took up too much of my time and energy. It was a chore to keep you interested in the conversation. Sometimes I would have to send double texts to keep the words flowing because you got bored and stopped answering. Sometimes I had to carry the conversation. I had to think of new topics to discuss. I had to do everything. I don’t talk to you anymore because I reached a point where it became too tiring. I was tired of trying to make you like me. Tired of trying to ask the right questions and give the right answers. Tired of trying to convince you that I was worthy of your love. I don’t talk to you anymore because there is nothing left to say. You already know how I feel about you and it’s clear you don’t feel the same way. If you did, then you would have been trying as hard as I always did. You would have made an effort. You would have texted back faster and initiated conversations and asked to see me in person so we weren’t only talking over the phone. But none of those things happened.

HOW TO BE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHO CONSTANTLY FEELS LONELY

First, try to understand that their feelings are sensitive. They get affected so easily even if they don’t often times make it seem to obvious. They feel things deeply. They share their hearts to everyone when they’re happy, but they withdraw themselves from society when they’re sad.

Someone who constantly feels lonely isn’t trying to be emotional just to grab people’s attention. Being lonely isn’t something that they wish to have. They’d give their all if only they can run away from loneliness. But the problem is that they can’t, because loneliness become their creepy companion everywhere they go, whoever they’re with.

Loneliness is always just few feet away from them, waiting for the right time when it can enter their personal bubbles. It’s attached to them in an invisible thread that they can’t cut no matter how many times they try.

Being friends with someone who grew up welcoming solitude in their lives is like learning a new language – it’s difficult and strange in the beginning but sooner you’ll get used to it. You’ll realize that every one of us has experienced what it’s like to feel empty on the inside – some of us are just good at hiding it.

When you are friends with someone who has extreme emotions, you have to be always aware and careful of how you treat them. You have to be thoughtful of the words that you’re going to say to them, because they never forget everything that they hear. You have to include them in all your plans because making them feel like outsiders is one thing that you should be avoiding at all cost.

Never let the day end without comprising with them when you had disagreements with each other. Don’t take them for granted when they’re upbeat, when they become chatty, when they laugh a lot, because you don’t get to see them living every day with their souls full of energies. Avoid playing with their feelings and assuming that they will always stay with you.

When they’re having a bad day, give them the space and time that they need. Know that they have to breathe and be far away from everyone to figure out what’s best for them. They need to hear their thoughts well and dig in to their feelings, because that’s how they solve their issues efficiently.

Be happy for them when they come back into your life. Update them with everything that they missed out while they were healing on their own. Treat them the way you usually do before they completely shut off everyone around them. Show them that you totally get what they’re going through.

Because once you’ve proven to them that you actually care about their vulnerabilities, they will stick up with you forever. They will consider you as their most trusted ally and the one they will always be thankful for. They will support you when you’re the one who needs some help.

They will return the love that you’re giving them. They will hear all your sentiments in life. They will believe in you even if everyone doesn’t.

Being friends with someone who’s too familiar with the feeling of loneliness will do their best to not let you experience what they are constantly battling. They will give light in your life when you’re lost. They will hang out with you when you’re heartbroken. They will watch movies with you when you can’t sleep at night.

People who constantly feel lonely just want to find home in someone’s heart. They want to be welcomed and be respected by what they think and what they feel. They want to know that someone can relate to them.

They want you to accept them. Make them feel less scared. Stop their thoughts from destroying them. And tell them that they can count on you.

Give them the freedom that they need sometimes. Fill their souls with your love. Inspire them to overcome their struggles.

And lastly, let them know that beside you, they can always feel like they belong.

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE SINGLE FOR A LONG TIME

Admit it, that at some point you wish someone is there for you. You miss the feeling to be taken cared of and care for someone. You miss the kisses and hugs, but you do not act desperate.

Truth be told, singles are not really bitter when they see lovers who are very sweet and clingy. They just want to poke fun, but in reality they are supportive.

They miss that feeling of being in love, but they don’t rush in love anymore. They have learned so much in the past, they are not heartless, but they are just careful, they still believe in love but they just want to take it slow.

When you are single for a long time, it will take an extraordinary someone to make you believe in love again.

Self-Love is not selfish. You better give so much love to yourself before you love someone else. Love is not a competition, it just happens without you even expecting it with the right person. So while you are single, work on making yourself better.

GOD KNOWS WHAT’S IN YOUR HEART EVEN IF YOU DON’T SAY IT OUT LOUD

Last night I had a moment where I felt that God was not listening to me or maybe He doesn’t really understand me because I’ve been asking for the same things for too long and for some reason I’m still not getting them. For some reasons, He wants to keep me waiting. For some reason, He keeps me making the lessons harder.

At first, I thought maybe I didn’t articulate what I wanted accurately. I looked up prayers and talked to Him in different languages and asked Him for what I wanted in many different ways because I thought that if I was able to perfect my words and my prayers, it will make a difference. Like maybe He’d pay more attention if I had the right words to say.

I thought that if I found the perfect prayer, God won’t say no. But then realized God knows what’s in your heart whether you say it or not. God knows what you want without saying a word. God doesn’t need reminders. God doesn’t forget. He didn’t forget about what you wished for last year or ten years ago. He didn’t forget about the nights you cried to Him because you didn’t have anyone else. He knows what’s in your heart.

The truth is, God will not always give you what you ask for no matter how hard you pray or what kind of prayer you use. He won’t always make things easy for you. He won’t give you things just because you’re nagging or begging. Because He knows what’s truly in your heart, He knows what’s best for you. He knows what your heart needs not what your heart wants. He knows what will heal your heart forever not temporarily. He knows what will soften your heart. He knows your heart more than you do. God wants you to know that, at the end of the day, your heart is in His hands. It belongs to Him. So you can beat around the bush, pretend like He doesn’t already know, read all the prayers you can find but it won’t change His mind. It won’t alter His plan. It won’t persuade Him that your plan is better.

Maybe God doesn’t want you to say everything out loud, maybe He just wants you to have faith in His silence. In the moments when you feel like He’s absent. In the days when you can’t get out of bed because life doesn’t make sense. In the nights when you can’t sleep because your heart is heavy. In the weeks or months when you feel dead inside because you can’t remember the last something made you feel alive.

Maybe it’s not so much about what we tell God but more about what He’s trying to tell us. Maybe we’re too busy talking and telling Him what we need that we forget to step back and listen to His answers, watch how our lives unfold and look for the signs He’s sending us.

Maybe we find God more in silence, when we don’t know what to say, when we can’t express how we feel, when the world just ceases to make sense, that’s when we feel most connected to Him. When we trust Him to heal our hearts because we know for sure that if we leave it up to Him, He won’t break our hearts.

DO NOT BE AFRAID OF LIFE

Life comes in waves. Waves of shadows and sparkles, waves of tears and joy. At times, hardness sets in, pressing down on you into the darkness. At times, softness rests gently upon your shoulders like a feather floating in the breeze. In the golden moments, you will feel overflowing and full, high on life’s beauty and bountifulness. Then, there are the more painful moments, during which you may feel empty and lost. The seasons change. Sometimes you flow through them, opening your heart to newness and growth. Other times you find yourself falling behind, not changing in line with the stars, feeling stuck on something in your past.

You are human, you will always be moving through the seasons. You will always be facing both beauty and despair. You will always be a riptide of emotions, rushing in every direction. Sometimes you will be pulled under, and other times you will be washed ashore.

When life is hard, love more. Love is more powerful than is darkness. Let others bask in the warmth of all the love you have to give.

Be vulnerable and honest, and be fiercely compassionate. Forgive others, hold yourself to a standard of grace, rather than one of perfection.

When life is soft, flow. Flow like the river, washing through and around obstacles. Flow like the sunlight, covering the earth with warmth and goodness. Let the goodness rush through you and around you.

The hardest days tend to become little bit easier when you walk lightly through the world. The darker days tend to become a little bit lighter when you forgive yourself for being human.

You have nothing to fear. Just like the moon, we are still ourselves through all of our phases. And just like the earth, our own lightness always follows our darkness.

Morning after morning, the sun never fails to come out, time and time again.

DEAR GOD I’M GIVING IT ALL TO YOU

Maybe I’m trying so hard to have full. I need to remind myself that everything is a process. Every struggle is a process. And every process has an end goal, has a purpose and it’s always for my good. God is always doing something, sometimes beyond my comprehension, or sometimes within its walls. And honestly, it gets tiring to always try so hard to overcome on my own when I can overcome with You.

Maybe God, You’re right, it’s all about total surrender.

It’s not a matter of I can anymore, it’s all about what You can and unless I allow You to completely take over every space, every aspect of my life, I will never fully overcome, I will never taste victory over my life. Maybe I need to remind myself to trust You in whatever strife I’m facing, whether big or small, whether work or school, whether relationship or personal, whether healing or promotion – whatever it is, maybe it’s all about permitting You to move me from glory to glory and just allow myself to be saturated in Your presence and watch how You will transform my failures into triumphs and my sorrow into joy.

Maybe I need to remind myself that You are Lord, and that I can’t overthrow it all in one snap, it will be a really tough process that is only possible through Your grace. And that doesn’t mean the process will be flawless and convenient and fast, there will be lapses, shortcomings but there will be improvements as well, there will be little victories that needed to be celebrated rather than condemned.

Maybe in every struggle, You are only teaching me, us, to be dependent in You. That the size of the struggle doesn’t matter, tiny or enormous, because I must learn to surrender. I can’t handpick the portions of my life that I want to surrender. I can’t just offer You the great, impossible looking battles and fight the easy ones on my own. Maybe I need to learn to give it all to You, God. Committing all areas of my life. All my ache, my sin, my shame, my faults, trading them all for Your peace. Giving it all and letting go fully, raising my hands to heaven in full surrender. Certain for the breakthrough that is waiting for me. Trusting Your beautiful promises as I trust Your process even more.
