Always remember that no matter how tired and weary we have become – countless and sleepless nights, bodies drained, tears falling from our eyes, blood, sweat, we sacrifice for our dreams, everytime we make trading mistakes, everytime our sales go down, everytime people don’t believe in us, everytime we cry in the darkness of our rooms with no one to hang on to, everytime we wake up with hope that this day would be a different day than what was.

Everytime we feel like no one can hear us scream the miseries of our hearts seeking for understanding, everytime our hearts can no longer give, but chooses to love even up to the least beat.

Even when people say we can’t, even when we are fighting alone, even when our resources are depleted, we continue to fight, we rise from the ashes and trade in the war zone, we resurrect from death of our dreams and we relive the hope in our hearts, no matter how small that voice has become.

Because for as long as God tells you, “You can” – you can. For as long as you live, there is a God that death can never hold down. He carries you when you have fallen in the battle. He gives you back your armor. He hand you over your gear. And you fight once more. You stand wounded in the battle.

YOU TEACH THEM

You teach people how to talk to you with tenderness, how to be patient and kind, how to forgive and encourage and listen and trust.

You teach them how to wait for you, how to let you speak your mind, how to hold your hand and kiss your lips and pull you close when you’re trembling. You teach them in the way you wrap your knees to your chest when you’re afraid, in the way you gently brush blush across your cheeks, in the way you lather lotion over your skin and bandage your cuts and carefully smooth over each blemish with love, not hate.

You do not settle for anger, for bitterness, for voices that silence you without letting you speak. You do not allow negativity to change your self-image, or for relationships to shape your self-definition. You do not pick at every mistake or flaw, wishing to alter who you are and have always been.

In the way you care for yourself, appreciate your imperfect, beautiful being – that is how you teach people how to treat you. So when you fall into an argument with someone you love, when your ground is shaken, when life gets difficult, people know they are to respect you as you respect yourself. They are to be kind to you, as you are to your own heart. They should value you, as you place value on your thoughts and being. There’s some seriously ugly people in relationships. People with terrible personalities can always find someone to put up with them. Death row inmates find love. So, it’s probably not the case that you’re uglier, dumber and more annoying than everyone else in the world. The simpler (and more likely to be correct) solution is that it has nothing to do with these factors. You’re just single because you haven’t met them yet.

You are becoming a better person.

When you are working towards a goal, like being single and wanting to be in a relationship, you need to make changes in order to get closer to your goal. So, you are becoming a better person while you are single. Of course, you’ll want to continue that same drive when you’re coupled, but part of commitment is loving someone at their worst – while courtship is about presenting and being your best. Granted it’s because you have to be, but when you’re single, you’re on top of your game.

Ladies, we’re not “left overs”. Have you read about that article in China about how this parent said her daughter was unpretty, average. Those lines were heart breaking. I believe that singleness is such a beautiful season. It is a time to explore things, travel, mingle with all sorts of people, to start businesses, to fail, get up, learn a lot of things and try them out. It’s  a season to celebrate life, school, fun, adventure, places, food, music, etc. It’s a season to enjoy and to bring memories along with it.

As you scroll down your facebook feeds, you see batchmates getting married, settling down, showing off pregnancy results, getting engaged, having boyfriends, starting families so young and here you are, struggling to live the life of an entrepreneur with success in mind but fatality in every beating.

Ladies, when our hearts get broken, we bounce back stronger and smarter. We outsmart casino of life not by getting even but by volumizing our strengths and passions. Whatever Plan A, Plan B will be in it, it would be for the best.

Somewhere, there is this perfect me that I’ve concocted in my head. I have a crush on a guy and I was telling him a story about a bear I was obsessed with when I was a kid and there was a moment when I could tell that he was looking at me with this expression of like “this person is really cute”. I keep thinking about it because I don’t understand how someone could look at me this way. I’m not saying a fairy tale story, there are a lot of factors in this scenario but I am talking about a singular, pure moment. That happened and it was real and I can’t get myself to understand it. If this were a book I were reading, I would screenshot the section to a writer friend and say, ‘lol, that’s not how things work sry!”

COURTSHIP 101

Men, if the woman you like and love said yes in courtship with you and you know in your heart that the feelings are not yet mutual, well, you need to do something about it. If you want to hear her next yes for a long lasting relationship, you need to lead the friendship to a deeper level everyday. How can you lead her in the future kung friendship palang hindi mo na siya ma-lead? Make sure to make the courtship deep, interesting and fun everyday.

“Kamusta ka na? “Hahaha!” or spiritual text messages are good but how about asking her deep and interesting questions like, “What adventures do you like?” “What are your earliest memories?” “How did you handle first day of school when you were a child?” “What’s your routine every morning?” “How about at night?” “What’s your favorite cartoon character?” “Fave thing to do beside this and that?” Make sure to connect. Don’t just text. You can call, send emails, visit her at home and make some surprises.

How about going out on dates (of course with the permission of your parents) but doing not the usual ones? How about considering eating in turu-turo’s, go on a roller coaster ride, have some roadtrips while playing loud music and sing together? How about working out together and become gym buddies? Or do a Bible-Study in a coffee shop?

Oh girls love that!

Remember this: Courtship is another level of friendship and this might lead the both of you to at least consider marriage in the future but how will this happen if it’s stagnant, usual and not growing?

Courtship is a wonderful time in your relationship which you refrain from physical intimacy, you deepen friendship, learn about each other’s values and goals, and interacted spiritual level.
