So many memories of the man I loved,
Each one precious beyond words and enough,
Hopefully, to last me a lifetime.
February2018/cabreraflorina.blogspot.com/ios.florinac@gmail.com

When I first saw him, I’d been attracted to him.
I needed more from a man.
I needed to feel totally a part of his life.

Sometimes our greatest insights come from our failures, not from our accomplishments.

There is no greater sadness than holding on to the words you never had the courage to speak.
That's why poems are made. Let the ink on the paper speak.

IT’S MY NATURE TO WORRY

He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:3,4

Is worry really wrong? Who would deny that there is plenty to worry about – the state of the economy, our health, the domestic problem including feeding the hungry and a lot of other things.

“it’s my nature to worry – that’s the way God made me! I just can’t help it,” people say, and “I am not always known by the smoothness of my brow.” I admit that some may have more of a biological tendency to worry than do others, but can we put the blame on our genetic code to let us off the hook?”

Jesus had a lot to say about this subject in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5 to 7) where He talked about the birds which are fed by our Heavenly Father. He chided the disciples for worrying about their clothes and food. In this passage, Jesus considered worry to be wrong because of the power of His Heavenly Father to provide for His children.

Paul didn’t mince words either when he said, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God” (Philippians 4:6).

So, if God says I should not worry, then there must be a solution to this problem. Simply put, it is learning to put into His hands what we cannot change, and learning more about Him gives us confidence that He is more than able to take care of the storms in our life.

Remind yourself that He who creates our world neither slumbers nor sleeps. He’ll take the night shift and the day shift to follow. He never fails.

INTEGRITY

In my integrity, You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever. Psalm 41:2

A couple bought a pizza and headed for  a nearby park. When they opened the box, however, they found not only the pizza but the receipts and sales from the previous day which had been hidden there. Fearing that they might be accused of theft, they returned the money. The owner of the shop, so impressed at their honesty, said, “Let me call the newspeople and have them do a story. Immediately the couple was horror-stricken. “Oh please, don’t do that.” They pleaded, “We’re not married.”

“Nobody almost has integrity,” says Chuck Swindoll. “You either have it or you don’t!” If he is right then far too have-it” category. Today, integrity seems to have been corrupted by the importance of ourselves and the pressure to get the job done, no matter what the cost. When every man does what is right in his own eyes, moral chaos follows.

In the New American Standard translation of the Bible, you’ll find 27 references to the word Integrity in the Old Testament. The Hebrew word means straightforward and honest. Five of those references weave a story of testing around Job, who systematically lost almost everything. Even his wife chided him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die! (Job 2:9), but Job neither cursed God nor abandoned his integrity.

Integrity is at the very heart of the Judeo-Christian foundation. This means that the God who gave the Ten Commandments and the moral principles of the Bible still expects us to keep our word and be true to our vows. With God’s help, you can determine to be a man or woman of integrity starting today.

IF I CAN JUST GET THROUGH THIS PROBLEM

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9

“if I can just get through this problem, I’m sure that everything will be okay.” Ever think that? You grit your teeth and you get through that problem only to find that several more have cropped up on the horizon. It’s like pedaling a bicycle. Going uphill is so slow and takes so much energy and then the downhill run so quickly turns into another uphill climb.

The word translated “worry” or “anxiety” in the New Testament is interesting. Paul used it when he described his care for the churches, a legitimate area of concern, but he also used the word when he talked about not being overwhelmed by the immediate problem – but rather to pray and commit it to the Lord (Philippians 4:6).

Do you ever find yourself in the position where your head and your heart don’t tell you the same things? Your head says, “That problem is a pretty big one which confronts you!” and your heart says, “God is bigger than this problem, and I can trust Him.” You are drawn or pulled two different ways. The end result – worry.

“Ín the world you will have trouble,” said Jesus. But He didn’t stop there, for if He had, the future would be pretty bleak. He continued saying, “But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Concentrate on finding His strength and power and learn from the experience you are working through right now.

In his book “Why Us?”, Warren Wiersbe tells of a blind girl struggling with some tough issues who turned to him and said, “Pray that I won’t waste all of this suffering!” She saw God’s purpose in the upward climb. So can you, friend, no matter where you are on the incline of life.

THE HEALING POWER OF HOPE II

But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. Malachi 4:2

“Hope”, I said Thales, the Greek Philosopher, “is the most universal thing in the world, for hope stays with those who have nothing else.”

Many people are in the grip of despair, because they have ruled out the very grounds of hope itself which is God. In contrast, the believer’s hope centers in Jesus Christ, who gave us hope of eternal life and the assurance that there is more to life than the weariness of earning enough to keep ourselves from starving.

In an article entitled, “What hope does for man,” Dr.Wolff of Cornell University wrote: Despite exposure to many stressful conditions (in World War II concentration camps) the imprisonment for some survivors was a painful but temporary interruption in life. They were convinced that they would come out alive and that they would not be imprisoned long. “These men formed tightly knit groups, helped each other and laughed together. Immediately after liberation, some had transient illnesses but their vitality had not been sapped. So though prolonged dangerous and lonely circumstances may drain hope and health, man can endure incredible burdens and take cruel punishment when he has self-esteem, hope and belief in his fellows.”

Hope is part of the armor of the soul, which is put there by God, and is linked vitally to the belief that really He controls and governs our eternal destiny. Hope is the confident assurance that there is more to life than the frail temples of clay which we call our human bodies. The Apostle Paul saw faith as a spiritual quality of the soul, based on the assurance that God exists above and beyond anything that man can do to the life of another man, and that our destiny is really in God’s hand!

THE HEALING POWER OF HOPE I

“We who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.”
Ephesians 1:12

It happens every day. A car is proceeding down the highway when another vehicle pulls directly into its path. There is the screech of tires as brakes are jammed on, but it is too late. The sickening thud is followed by the tearing of metal and the shattering of glass, punctuated with the screams of suffering. A broken, bruised body is pulled from the twisted wreckage, and soon an ambulance is racing towards the hospital.

The family arrives and waits the outcome of the life in balance. Finally, the doctors walk out to greet the family. Without thinking, the words leap out, “Doctor, is there hope?”

To the Corinthians, Paul wrote, “And now remains faith, hope and love…” If Paul were writing today, do you suppose he would still say, “And now remains hope?”

Many of us today are gripped with a quiet despair, uncertain of the future, wondering if there is hope for our generation. Science and technology have united to produce the greatest arsenal of death-producing weapons the world has ever known. Add to this, the problems of food shortages, the energy crisis and a host of other difficulties.

Where shall we look for hope? Moscow, Peking, Geneva, Bonn, Washington or the UN? Little hope ebbs from the capitals of the world, but there is hope in a world considered hopeless by many.

The Bible says there is no hope in the heart of man apart from the hope that comes through faith in God. Faith becomes the doorway that provides hope for the future, and that makes my life now worth living. Think about it.

THE TREMENDOUS POWER OF LOVE

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4:8

The late psychiatrist, Dr.Karl Menniger, declared, “Love is the medicine for the sickness of the world.” No person can be a well-rounded individual and relate to the world about him if he has not discovered the power of love itself.

A woman prisoner in Paris was lonely, afraid and bitter. She resisted any attempt to break through her defensive barrier.

A prison worker spoke to this woman and offered Gospel tracts and told her that God loved her no matter how far she had strayed from His presence. The response was a snarl, “Nobody loves me – don’t talk to me.” For several years every attempt to bridge the barrier was met with rebuff. Then without planning, the opportunity came.

That day, the prison worker began her round passing through the jail as she normally did. As she passed the prisoner without thinking she bent over and kissed her. The woman reeled back then looking up into the face of her undeserved friend, she began to weep. “Why did you kiss me?” She asked. “Nobody has kissed me for many years. Kick me, strike me, use me and leave me – but kiss me, no!”

Paul wrote, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). That’s the acid test – a demonstration of love so costly that it required the very life of God’s son!

Two thoughts: (1) Don’t give up striving to reach out in love when your attempts are rebuffed and (2) When people attempt to show love in your life but in theirs as well. That’s the way God made us!

DON’T LOSE FAITH

But I need you to keep going. Keep trying. Keep working. Don’t lose faith. Because it’s in those moments where you want to get up and walk away and quit, comes something rewarding. There is something on the other side of this confusion and heartbreak and sadness. You have just to get there first. Just know you aren’t alone. I Am with you always. MY PRINCE IS SOMEWHERE OUT THERE ROCKIN

Sweet time of the year again of flickering fantasies, roses and chocs, dreams and kisses. It’s the time when people pop that question, like when, as if you know the answer, as if you got some timetable working on that lil pc of mystery,, coz who could it every be? In this shoulda coulda woulda world we’re living in?

Who’d say:
“Baby, will you be my princess?”
Coz that princess is hustling hard. She got her hands dirty doing lots of stuff. She isn’t a princess, but a silent laborer. No glam or fab, she’s on fire. And fire sometimes means pain, tears, discipline, patience, perseverance, faith. To love is to serve. Your princess is building her empire of dreams and you gotta be rocking your world too whatever your passion is, whatever fuels you to wake up knowing you will win and you will win. Even if you lose in my heart you will win.

I’ve come to a point when you know it’s just cool to enjoy people, their idiosyncrasies, their thoughts, their passion. And if he comes, not sure if there really is. But I hope he tells me his story of how amazing his life is, and how I would help him get to the top coz I think reaching milestones is what I breath. I hope we share that same oxygen that fuels our souls to become alive. To be our truest selves. To be who we truly are. Coz when we get old together, when skin’s faded, it’s about that thing called “Beyond” what he has become. What I have become. What future we create beyond ourselves. How magic started when we both said, “I Do.”

FOREVER

Minsan ang forever ang hirap paniwalaan
Kasi parang di pa natin nararanasan
Pero palagay ko dapat mong malaman
Ang bagay na matagal mo ng alam
Na ang saging ay pampahaba ng buhay..

Ang buhay ay parang letrang “Y”
Na matatagpuan sa Ra”Y”mond at De Jo”Y”a
Na kasing tunog ng guwapo at gitara..

At darating ang araw
Makikita kitang guwapong-guwapo at naggi-gitara
Putting-puti at kaharap ang babaeng papangakuan
At ‘di mo alam na umaawit ako doon sa likod
“Ikakasal ka na, iiwan na akong nag-iisa”
At napagtanto nating may forever pala..

BUT HOW DOES HE FEEL ABOUT ME

By far the most common questions I get are variations of figuring out how a guy feels, “He texts me from time to time but we never actually hang out,” “He texts me from time to time but we never actually hang out,” “He’s really flirty when we see each other and said I’m the coolest girl he knows so why isn’t he asking me out?” “We’ve been seeing each other for months but he won’t make it official,” “He always watches my instagram and snapchat stories and he likes my pictures so what does that mean???”

It means he is kind of interested in you but doesn’t want a relationship with you. He always says he misses you but doesn’t make a way to see you. Guys don’t play games. They don’t tried to hide interest, they don’t speak in code, and they aren’t trying to confuse you. Why is it so confusing? Again, because we don’t want to accept the truth and we all want to think we’re the exception.

What women always get wrong about men is thinking they’re evil or complicated or commitment-phobes or players. But most of the time this just isn’t the case. Men usually show you exactly who they are. They may not necessarily come right out and say the words but you’ll always see the truth when you can honestly look for it. And if a man does ever come right out and tell you he doesn’t want to be in a relationship, believe him. Again, this isn’t him performing voodoo trap on you and trying to get you to like him more or prove your worth by showing what an amazing girlfriend you would be. If a guy isn’t making it obvious to you that he likes you, it’s because he doesn’t like you that much. If he isn’t committing to you, it’s because he doesn’t want to. If he’s treating you like a booty call, it’s because he doesn’t want a relationship that goes any deeper than that. Don’t delude yourself or adopt a man-hating attitude. See a situation for what it is, and accept that men just aren’t that complicated. I’m not blaming the woman, but I will say we put ourselves through so much unnecessary grief just because we don’t want to accept that men are actually fairly simple and straightforward creatures.

COMMENT:
Yes Yhang. I understand completely. We show women exactly who we are. The truth reveals itself at the right time, not the time you expect when. We are firm, confident, and considerate in our words. We mean what we say, we say what we mean. It is simple to understand us. We feel, understand, appreciate, empathize, and respect every woman we meet in our life. Yes, we are fairly simple and straightforward. I appreciate your opinion on this, Yhang. Thank you.. –R.E.DeJoya

A PHYSICIAN’S PRAYER

Lord who on earth didst minister
To those who helpless lay
In pain and weakness hear me now
As unto thee I pay

Give to mines eyes the power to see
The hidden source of ill
Give to mind hand the healing touch
The throb of pain to still

Grant me that mine ears be swift to hear
The cry of those in pain
Give to my tongue words that bring
Comfort and strength again

Fill thou my heart with tenderness
My brain with wisdom true
And when in weakness I sink
Streghthen thou me anew

So in thy footstep may I tread
Strong in thy strength always
So may I do they blessed work
And praise thee day by day
