For I know the plans I have for you…
plans to prosper you… to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:10, 11
God has a plan, but chance has no
part in it. Take, for example, planet Earth – this sphere spinning on its axis
1,000 miles per hour, and hurtling through space at 27,000 miles per hour. If
our planet were closer to the sun, we could not stand the heat. If we were
further away, we could not stand the cold. Our bodies thrive in the atmosphere
consisting of 80% percent nitrogen and 20% percent oxygen. With less oxygen we
would eventually burn out. Then the 23 ½ degree tilt of the earth on the axis
gives the four seasons, breaking the monotony of a climate with no change.
Understanding God’s plan for nature,
helps me to accept that He has a plan for my life as well. You might be
thinking, “You do not know how messed up my life is right now!” and your heart
cries out, “How could God possibly have a plan for my life?”
You may have heard this before,
“Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity!” What you may see as chaos, God views as
an opportunity.
You are of infinitely more value than
the vastness of space which still reveals a plan and a purpose. You, my friend,
are of greater value than the hosts of heaven.
Are you discouraged? Then listen to
the still voice of God saying, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares
the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future
and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:10,11) and then put yourself in the centre of that
plan.
